Meet Talia

OWNER, LEAD DESIGNER

Talia Laconi has been a creative since she was a child. She grew up in Florida and spent countless hours choreographing dance routines and putting on shows for anyone who would pay attention. This translated into a lot of time creating ideas in her childhood bedroom, in which she was constantly asking her parents for permission to swap the paint color or redo the wallpaper.

As clear as her love for design was then, when it came time for college she chose a different path. Talia attended the University of Central Florida on a full ride scholarship - graduating with a degree in Hospitality Management. While working in the hotel industry, she started to notice that the spaces she was working on lacked style and good design.

She had the opportunity to meet the team responsible for redesigning the lobby in the hotel where she was working, and as they say, a lightbulb went off. She knew in that moment she needed to pivot and focus her creative energy on hospitality design, so she packed up and moved to Los Angeles to pursue an Interior Design degree at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising.

While studying for her degree, Talia got deep into her yoga practice and fell in love with the mindfulness that it brought into her life - which quickly began to overflow organically into her design projects.

In 2022, Talia launched kinney block - her first product collection of vertical surface blocks for interior and exterior use. The concept was born from a commercial project on Abbot Kinney in Venice, California and has since grown into a full line of block tiles that can be purchased online or through select distributors.

Today, Talia's main focus is designing mindfully for both residential and commercial clients to help to create spaces that are as equally beautiful as they are beneficial to enhancing client's lives, and bringing unique surface materials to the market that are unlike anything else available. Her work has been featured in Harper's Bazaar, Architectural Digest, Interior Design and Real Simple amongst others.
